‘Marilyn’ at Getty Images Gallery

Late last year we valued highlights of the famous David Gainsborough Roberts collection of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, in preparation for show.

This exhibition is running 7 March – 23 May, 2012 at Getty Images Gallery, 46 Eastcastle Street, London, W1W 8DX. Visit the Getty Images Gallery website for more information.

Held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Marilyn’s death the exhibition presents an enthralling collection of photographs, original video and costumes, many in London for the first time. Highlights include:

A row of Marilyn Monroe costumes

A row of Marilyn costumes starting with the intricately beaded costume from There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954) complete with feather headdress and pleated front panel inserted into the revealing slit skirt – used when scenes had to be re-shot for screenings of the film in countries prohibiting female nudity
